Clearly, the best feature of the First Years Clear and Near 2.4 GHz Baby Monitor is it's impressive 1500 foot range. This dual channel baby monitor has an extremely sensitive microphone and offers superior clarity and reception. This newer technology does price it above your average baby monitor though.
The parent unit has a belt clip for ease of portability, as well as a sound activated light display which may be handy when you're watching a movie at night. It also has an out of range indicator and rechargeable batteries.
The child unit has a loop for wall mounting and a pager/locator button. Having read several other customers' reviews of this product, I've noticed some complaints of the unit paging itself in the middle of the night, perhaps due to interference from cordless telephones. It generally will not produce static or interference from a 900 MHz cordless phone, but if you have a 2.4 GHz cordless phone this unit is definitely NOT for you. You may also experience some interference if you have a 5.9 GHz phone or a wireless network in your home.
